We use black wattle (acaia meansii) as the tanning agent for hides. It’s a pretty amazing tree. Well known to Traditional Owners for a multitude of uses, it is a great pioneer plant for revegetation projects. The sap was used a s a glue but also a favourite of kids as a gum. In the right light, it's also pretty amazing.
